报告摘要：In this talk, I will introduce the background of MHD free boundary problems, and discuss main geometric and analytic ideas in obtaining a priori estimates. Then I will discuss the role played by the Taylor sign condition, from both ill-posedness and well-posedness points of view. This talk is based on joint work with Professor Chengchun Hao.

报告人简介： 罗涛，1995 年于中国科学院数学研究所获得博士学位，后于美国密歇根大学(University of Michigan)、乔治城大学(GeorgetowrUniversity)历任助理教授、副教授、教授，现为香港城市大学教授研究方向和学术兴趣包括非线性偏微分方程、流体力学的数学理论、双曲守恒律、变分原理、自由边值问题等。在双曲守恒律、流体力学方程自由边值问题研究等方面作出了一系列影响深远的工作，研究成果发表于 CPAM、ARMA、CMP.等国际著名刊物。在国内外赢得了许多学术奖项和研究基金，包括中国科学院院长奖学金特别奖、密歇根大学 Rackhan研究基金、意大利 CNR 研究基金、法国 CNRS 研究基金等.
