报告摘要：In this talk I will tell the intriguing story of the celebrated Rogers-Ramanujan identities. These identities were first discovered by the brilliant but largely-ignored mathematician L.J. Rogers in 1894 and rose to prominence through Ramanujan's famous 1913 letter to G.H. Hardy. In the talk I will describe the early history of the identities as well as highlight some more recent developments, relating the Rogers-Ramanujan identities to knot theory, geometry and algebraic number theory.

报告人简介：Sven Ole Warnaar，澳大利亚昆士兰大学教授、博士生导师，国际组合数学及特殊函数领域的领军人物之一，他于2008年当选澳大利亚科学院院士，2020年获澳大利亚数学学会George Szekeres奖章，2021-2022年任澳大利亚数学会会长。他的主要研究领域为代数组合学、加性数论和特殊函数理论等，在《J. Amer. Math. Soc.》、《Acta Math.》、《Duke Math. J.》、《Adv. Math.》、《Mem. Amer. Math. Soc.》等顶级数学期刊发表多篇高水平论文，曾任《J. Combin. Theory, Ser. A》主编，现任《Adv. Appl. Math.》 编委。他不仅在学术上取得了卓著的成果，在学术交流、数学教育和数学文化传播中也做出了非常突出的贡献，他自2007年担任形式幂级数与代数组合数学国际年会（FPSAC）这一代数组合界最具影响的国际会议的执行委员，曾任SASTRA Ramanujan奖评选委员会委员，还曾多次担任国际顶尖数学竞赛，如西蒙·马赖斯数学竞赛等大学生数学竞赛的组委会主席。
